Bitcoin Is Starting to Trade Like a Strategic Treasury Asset Cross-asset divergence is becoming more pronounced. While oil surged more than 40%, gold fell about 5%, and the MSCI World Index declined roughly 4%, Bitcoin climbed above $75,000 on March 17, up around 14% since the end of February. At the same time, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reportedly attracted about $1.5B in net inflows in March, with corporate balance-sheet accumulation emerging as a key source of demand. The signal is structural: Bitcoin is beginning to behave less like a purely speculative trade and more like a strategic treasury asset, increasingly supported by institutional and corporate buying rather than retail momentum. SEC and CFTC Finally Draw Clearer Lines Around Major Crypto Assets The SEC and CFTC clarified that major crypto assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP are not being treated as securities under the current framework, while reaffirming that classification still depends on how a token is offered and marketed. Tokenized traditional assets remain under tighter regulatory scrutiny, and any asset sold with an explicit promise of profit tied to issuer efforts can still fall under securities law. After years of uncertainty, the U.S. market finally has a more usable regulatory baseline. That matters because institutional capital does not scale into ambiguity. It scales into frameworks it can underwrite. Binance’s TradFi Perpetuals Show Crypto Exchanges Are Becoming 24/7 Global Macro Venues Trading activity in traditional finance perpetual futures on Binance has accelerated rapidly, with volume already surpassing $153 billion only a short time after launch. Activity is concentrated heavily in gold and silver, which now generate multi-billion-dollar daily turnover and peak trade counts above 6 million trades per day. This is a meaningful structural signal. Crypto exchanges are no longer just venues for digital assets. They are increasingly becoming always-on global trading platforms where crypto-native infrastructure meets traditional macro exposure. The line between crypto exchange and multi-asset market venue is starting to disappear. |
